If it's hard to do, it's probably worth doing

During Summer 2008 I carried out a study on Hartham Common, Hertford as my Dissertation for my degree. The results were passed to East Herts Council, who own the site, Countryside Management, who manage it, The Environment Agency and The Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust who will be working with the owners and managers to create a management plan. The results, I believe, confirm that the site is valuable for wildlife and people in the area and are hopefully going to be useful in preparing the management plan.

A copy of the original dissertation can be accessed here. The key diagrams are provided separately, the text provides references as necessary.

Latest news!

Water Vole monitoring

I will be monitoring Hartham Common for water woles on an annual basis for Herts & Middx Wildlife Trust! This is great news as the site was not originally on the list of sites to be monitored and this important step will hopefully help to support the possibility of managing the site for water voles

Adopt Hartham Common!

I have commented on the importance of the site in relation to the Water Framework Directive and have joined the Our Rivers Campaign to adopt Hartham Common. I also contacted Mark Prisk, the MP for the area to raise awareness. To add your support and boost the interest in this wonderful site, join the Our Rivers campaign here, or contact Mark Prisk here. If you live in Hertford this would really help as he can only really act if his constituents are showing an interest!
