The following short stories can be viewed on www.shortbreadstories.com
Coffee shop - Mel feels that she is terminally single, her friend Sarah helps her to feel that way, what she needs is a chance encounter.....
Other short stories
Robins - Arthur loves his allotment and has befriended a young single mum, her daughter and Rocky, a robin. One seemingly normal day his life will be changed forever.
Robins has been accepted by The People's Friend magazine! I'm so pleased. I don't know when it will appear, but will post here when I do.
No Strings - Steffie runs her dad's guitar shop, a labour of love since he passed away. She has a favourite customer who shops regularly and let's just say she loves his visits
This story was sadly turned down by People's Friend, although they liked it they didn't feel it was for them, I will be sending it elsewhere soon.
A Jar of Buttons - Mary takes on a new job and meets Mrs Worthington who brings a whole new outlook to her lonely life.
This is a work in progress, currently in the process of receiving critique. Final adjustments will be done soon and hopefully this story will be another one for People's Friend
Comfy Slippers - A visit to Nan's house and some remeniscence.
This is another work in progress, also awaiting final edit. I am planning to have a go at the Woman's Weekly market with this one.
Metamorphosis - The story of dragonflies Aeshna and Danae and the monumental changes that are affecting their lives.
Metamorphosis was entered in the Wind in the Willows Centenary competition, but was unsuccessful. I will post it on the Shortbread Stories website soon
The Dust Web - Limonene, a fairy, gets her chance to stand up for what she believes in, and possibly save Smiledarnia from war.
The Dust Web is an adult fairy story, written for a magazine short story competition, but due to degree workload I didn't get time to enter!
Fantasy short stories
I currently have two ideas for fantasy short stories but haven't written them yet. The characters are almost developed and the plot set, so watch this space for more news.
The Whittaker Prize
I'm taking part in this year's Whittaker Prize so watch out for more short stories soon!
As always I would welcome any feedback through the blog, or the email below!
